Soundbytes: Spring Is Here, And So Is ‘The Concert Sinatra’

As we exit from March’s Lion-like conditions (it’s still freezing in Chicago!), today’s Soundbytes should whet your warming musical appetite – the latest in the continuing legacy of Ol’ Blue Eyes with the MoFi reissue of The Concert Sinatra from 1963. In this splendid 180-gram pressing we hear Sinatra in a well executed set of the best from Broadway, replete with Nelson Riddle’s fantastic arrangements. It’s by far the best of the remastered Sinatra Oeuvre under the MD/MoFi banner, and well worth the price.

Also on the bill:

  • Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs turns 40! The once in a lifetime grouping of Eric Clapton, Duane Allman, Bobby Whitlock, Jim Gordon and Carl Radle, yielded a 2-LP set that is a rock music phenomenon
